I typically read novels more than once and my favorites I read multiple times.
I know some people can’t do that, but for some reason I miss a few details on the first pass, so it’s fun to read stories a second and third time. I love to revisit the settings and characters, to experience the drama and romance all over again. For me, they are timeless.
According to the dictionary, timeless means “not affected by the passage of time or changes in fashion.”
There is one book that outshines all others, and I’m sure you know I mean the Bible. But why call it ‘timeless?” Because it’s the most widely read book in the history of the world! The words inspire people, no matter the generation. We find clarity, knowledge, instruction, comfort, encouragement, strength, motivation, and joy. The Bible points us to our creator, reminding us of his magnificence, as well as His plan and purpose for us individually.
Yet far too many people refuse to read it and take the words to heart.
Isn’t it amazing that we can skim over a verse in the Bible 50 times and then one day it stops us in our tracks? The perfect fit in the moment.
Life is hard at times. But we have a source of strength and truth to guide us, and it never grows old!
“The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul;
The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple;
The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart;
The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes;
The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever;
The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.
More to be desired are they than gold, Yea, than much fine gold;
Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.“
