I’m excited about the upcoming Fusion conference scheduled for this week, August 6-8! The youth pastor agreed to let me teach 2 classes.
The first one will be about following the dreams God gives you, and I’ll be using the same outline from the writers conferences I’ve taught at in the past, only this time I get to talk about the Bible! I plan to share Phil Vischer’s story and give away 2 copies of his book Me, Myself & Bob. You can see some of my past posts here.
The second class is for girls only, and is titled “Beauty, Boys, and the Bible.” It’s a compilation of things I wish I’d been told when I was a teen. I’m going to give away 2 copies of Kylie Bisutti’s book I’m No Angel, which I mentioned in a previous post.
Your prayers are appreciated! Hoping I can inspire some teens to seek God and love Him with all their heart, mind and strength.
I thought I’d share with you a little bit from my outline.
Beauty, Boys, and the Bible
1. Made in the image of God. Genesis 1:27
+ Men embody God’s strength.
+ Women embody God’s beauty.
+ Marriage is meant to be a full picture of God.
2. A closer look at the Feminine Heart Jeremiah 1:5
+ Girls want to be romanced.
+ Girls want to take part in an adventure.
+ Girls want to share their beauty with others.
3. To ignore or embrace our design? Psalm 139:14
+ We stifle our true selves when we: refuse to show our beauty, focus on only one aspect and disregard the other, or offer too much at a time
+ We have to learn how to express our beauty God’s way. 1 Peter 3:3-4
+ We have to resist the world’s definition of beauty. 1Samuel 16:7, 1 John 2:15-17
+ We have to properly use the assets God has given us. 1 Corinthians 10:23
+ We have to let God heal our hearts; we’ve all been hurt.
4. Guarding our hearts – and reputation. Romans 12:2
+ What our beauty does to boys: Because God made us beautiful, inside and out, boys are going to notice.
+ What kind of attention do we want from boys?
+ We will answer to God for our choices.
+ The world says to entice boys, but God says to respect them.
5. Becoming all God wants us to be. Galatians 1:10
+ We have to accept that God is the author of our identity. We cannot base our worth in anything or anyone other than Him.
+ Obedience brings blessing. He doesn’t just want us to learn, He wants us to put it into practice.
+ We have to chase Him with our whole heart. God rewards those who seek Him. Let’s make Him our first love and spend quality time with Him.
