Alright ladies, here is another book that I’m declaring all women must read!
Beth Moore, a wonderful speaker and Bible study writer, wrote a book called So Long Insecurity: You’ve Been A Very Bad Friend To Us. I think of myself as a fairly confident woman, but a friend recommended it to me so I decided to give it a try.
I’m guessing that many women think they’re pretty confident and don’t have much in the way of insecurities. That was me. And I was wrong.
Until I read this book, I had no idea how many insecurities I had, or how powerfully they affected my life. I struggle much more than I realized with feelings of inadequacy and an unhealthy need for others to make me feel good about myself.
Beth is a great writer; I love her authenticity and her no-nonsense, matter-of-fact approach. She really made me think about where I was out of balance and how I can change my thinking to combat the anxiety that often grips my heart. Our identity comes from our Creator; to seek validation from anyone else will only bring a false identity and miserable existence.
We can’t compare ourselves to other women any longer, nor can we demand/beg men meet our needs. We have to change our attitudes and create new habits. It all comes down to choosing to trust God with every aspect of our lives.
