The holidays are upon us, and after having coffee with a new friend this morning, I started thinking about my marriage and how tense I was this time last year. With things so uncertain between Tim and I, the holidays were an unwelcome season.
And this year, the normal holiday joy has already filled my heart.
Tim and the kids have planned out their baked treats for his employees, and our pantry is over-flowing with ingredients!
My sister and I have completed the menu for Thanksgiving and I purchased a turkey this morning!
I dug out my Christmas music last weekend and listened to some favorite tunes while cleaning house!
I even found the perfect gift for my hubby this year and have it safely hidden away until Christmas day!
It was last April, when things finally started looking up for us, that I began to share some of the struggles in my marriage, both here on my site and also at ACWM. I don’t know how many people I’ve helped, but several ladies have told me they appreciated my openness.
It’s not easy to share struggles, especially when you feel like a failure.
But today, instead of telling you about a personal trial, I want to share a blessing.
Today, there is no more tension in my home. God has restored our relationship, and while we still have some growing to do, most of the junk has been dealt with. We pray together regularly now, just the two of us. The enemy still tries to cause division, but we’re learning to spot his schemes and stand firm.
So today, I’m grateful.
I’m grateful for all the people who supported us and prayed for us over the past year. We couldn’t have done it without all of you!
I’m grateful for a husband and children who allow me room to grow and don’t hold my mistakes against me (at least not for very long!)
And I’m grateful for my amazing Heavenly Father, who stood by me the whole time I suffered this trial, and constantly whispered in my ear that He’s got this – He’s got me – and it’s all going to turn out for my good.
He was right…
