About Jen

Greetings from Alaska! I’m Jen, a wife, mom, blogger, speaker and novelist who also works a day job in the medical field.

I’ve written for various blogs over the past few years (Moms of Faith, Under The Cover of Prayer, and Real Christian Wives), but for now I only contribute at Alaska Christian Women’s Ministry.

Join with me by subscribing to posts and newsletters. You’ll find encouragement and resources for marriage and parenting, as well as updates about my novels or wholesome books I really enjoyed.

Some of my tops posts:

Jen TreeMy Bio:   I grew up on the Columbia River Gorge in a tiny cabin built by my father. My family attended a little Baptist church where Mama played piano and Dad led the music program.

I left the Gorge area to attend Northwest University, where I graduated with the first group of students to earn a Bachelor’s of Psychology. After my husband received a job offer, we relocated to Alaska, where we currently reside with our two children (as well as two boxers and two cats). During the day I work in billing and credentialing for a large orthopedic clinic. I serve in both the AWANA program and Bus Ministry at my church, as well as working with the youth and teaching at the statewide youth conference each August.

Writing journey:  It’s not enough to have a dream, unless we’re willing to pursue it. . . ” (Author unknown)

My goal in college was to become a marriage and family therapist because I had seen too many families torn apart. I wanted to join the ranks of great counselors like Kevin Leman and Gary Chapman.

Not once in the first twenty-five years of my life did I consider writing a novel. Several years ago my imagination began to drift in ways I had never before considered, and one day I grabbed a pen, determined to get the thoughts out so they would leave me alone.

Since then, my brain has gone into overdrive, and I can hardly get my ideas into an outline before another comes. Eventually I made connections with a writing coach, an agent, and a publisher.

Why romance:  “Place me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm; for love is as strong as death, its ardor unyielding as the grave. It burns like blazing fire, like a mighty flame.  Many waters cannot quench love; rivers cannot wash it away. If one were to give all the wealth of his house for love, it would be utterly scorned.” Song of Solomon 8:6&7.

Nothing is so powerful, or so magical, as love! God meant for man and woman to enjoy each other. I hope my stories encourage women to look for positive qualities in a life partner, and to foster an environment of real romance, rather than fantasy, as they grow old with their husbands.

My husband wants to go on a cruise to Alaska someday but financially I do not see this happening. We are both going to be 62 and still have at least one son and his wife dependent on us to pay all of their bills. So much education and cannot get a job. Plus his wife is sick more than she is healthy. Not complaining. I love my three sons and their significant others. Hope you and your family are healthy. Have a God blessed day.
