While I’ve lived in the Pacific Northwest all my life, I’ve only been in Alaska just over a decade. This state is truly one of the most beautiful places I’ve seen. Some people have asked why I never set one of my stories here, and I say it’s because Tracie Peterson beat me to it! Honestly, when my imagination is stirred, the settings come with the plot. Perhaps one day, it will be Alaska.
While Alaska hasn’t inspired a setting for a story, it has inspired me. My desk is set next to a small window in which I can look out over the hills behind our home. In the fall all the trees are bright with oranges and golds. In the winter, the icicles hanging from the roof complement the snowy hills. In the summer, the green in the trees is enhanced by the long hours of sunshine. I recommend putting Alaska on your list of places to visit!
